Drillisch AG announces 1999 financial statement figures: Revenue rose 48.6 %, mobile subscribers more than doubled (+104%)

Cologne (ots Ad hoc-Service) - Drillisch AG today announces its figures for the preceding fiscal year. The company reportes that sales revenue rose by DM 91.7 million to DM 280.5 million. The increase in revenue compared to the prior year is explained by the 104% growth in customers to 270,000 during the preceding fiscal year. Revenue increased not quite in proportion to the increase in subscribers, because, on the one hand, the mobile communications market was characterized by considerable price reductions, and on the other hand, the narrow-margin wholesale revenue was reduced by DM 33.1 million to DM 35.6 million. The result from ordinary business activities, at DM 1 million, came out lower than in the prior year (DM 13.3 million). The cause of this was losses from the expansion of the fixed network area in the amount of DM 13.3 million and losses from the expansion of the shop chain in the amount of DM 2.8 million.
Fiscal year 1999 was significantly characterized by the expansion of the fixed network area and the expansion of the shop chain. In the area of fixed network telephony, a total of DM 16 million were invested and on average up to one million calling minutes were connected daily. A total of DM 1.9 million was invested in the expansion of the shop chain. Drillisch was able in this way to further expand its position in private customer sales and further promote the brand name. In addition, having its own sales locations creates independence from retail sales companies, without having to forego growth in the core business, cellular service providing. Drillisch currently gets nearly 40% of its new subscribers through its own direct sales channels.
The year 2000 will also be characterized by further expansion and growth. Along with the further expansion of sales activities and a focus on Drillisch core brands, the area of Mobile Internet Services and Solutions is to be built up, and a strategic partner from Germany or abroad is to be found for the fixed network area. Thus in March the sale of the participation in Netztel Plus Drillisch AG to TelDaFax AG was closed, which led to a profit in the double- digit millions. As part of the build-up of the Internet Services and Solutions area, a 51% interest was acquired in the WAP and Web search engine Acoon. Additional domestic and international acquisitions and cooperative agreements will follow in the near future.
