Düsseldorf (ots Ad hoc-Service) - In this age of modern information technologies, it is critical to have important information available quickly, while it is still current. To fulfill this need. Alphatel -- a subsidiary of Drillisch AG -- and the group of Sparda Banks have worked out a concept that meets the demands of future-oriented customers.

Today, Alphatel and the Sparda Banks are announcing their cooperation in the area of mobile-telephone banking. In the future, customers of the Sparda Banks will be able to call up -- quickly and easily over their cellular phones -- information on:

the current balance on their accounts current stock-market prices other important information

This offer will be available exclusively in combination with Drillisch/Alphatel contracts. Through its cooperation with the Sparda Bank, one of Germany's most innovative banks for private customers, Drillisch AG expects to gain further stimulus for new value-added products and services in the banking field.

"With the new information-medium product of mobile-telephone banking, we are leading the way in our fast-moving information society. Through their cellular phones, our customers can easily call up current stock-market prices, which appear as text on the phone's display. Securities orders, securities-account information, and money transfers will be passed directly over mobile telephones in the future. This is a first step toward mobile Internet services -- others should follow as early as this year," explained Vlasios Choulidis, board member for mobile telephony and sales at Drillisch AG.

As of December 31. 1999, the 16 Sparda Banks had assets of approximately DM 66 billion and around 2 million customers. More than 150,000 new customers came to the Sparda Banks in 1999 alone. In 1999, for the seventh time in a row, the German Customer Monitor again named the Sparda Banks the bank with the most-satisfied customers. At the start of their cooperation, Drillisch/Alphatel will make available to customers of the Sparda Banks in Kassel and Frankfurt two special offers with a focus on WAP (for interactive transactions) and SMS (for text messages).
