Henkel Group acquires most of Specialty Polymers Business of Dexter Corporation
Düsseldorf, Germany (ots-PRNewswire) - Dexter Corporation and Loctite Corporation, US affiliate of Henkel KGaA yesterday entered into a definitive agreement on the sale of most of Dexter's Specialty Polymer Business to the Henkel Group. The business comprises special products for the assembly of components on printed circuit boards and the manufacture of electronic components as well as adhesives for specific industrial applications, particularly in the aerospace industry. The agreed total purchase price is US $ 400,000,000. The agreement has received the approval of the Board of Dexter and the Management Board of Henkel, but is still subject to requisite regulatory clearances and the approval of the Gesellschafterausschuss (Shareholders' Committee) of Henkel KGaA to be voted on at its regularly scheduled meeting on June 29, 2000.
Henkel is a worldwide operating specialist in adhesives, brand-name products and in industrial specialties with affiliates in over 70 countries. Henkel is the number one producer of Adhesives, Surface Technologies and Industrial and Institutional Hygiene (jointly with Ecolab Inc.) on a worldwide scale. In Detergents it ranks second in Continental Europe and in Cosmetics Henkel holds the number three position in Europe. Cognis, the recently carved-out chemicals business is the world's leading producer of Oleochemicals.
With over 56,600 employees, Henkel generated sales of 3 billion Euro in the first quarter 2000, 12.9 percent up on the same period last year. Operating profit increased by 17.6 percent to 207 million Euro.
