    The largest German rapeseed oil-driven block-type thermal power station is put into regular operation/ trading of the SolarWorld- share at the Stuttgarter stock exchange

    The SolarWorld AG, Bonn, has set up the largest rapeseed oil- driven block-type thermal power station in Germany. With a total capacity of 1,3 MW 2000 households in Germany could be supplied with ecologically produced heat and electricity. The contracting is taken over by the Gesellschaft für Energie- und Gebäudemanagement mbH (EGM), a subsidiary of the Stadtwerke Bonn. The profitability of this rapeseed oil-driven block-type thermal power station is guaranteed by the long-term feed-in-law granted by the city of Bonn. The SolarWorld AG will get a guaranteed profit share from the EGM. "The total investment amounting to 2,5 million DM will be paid back within the term of 15 years", Frank H. Asbeck, the chief executive officer of the SolarWorld AG, comments the rentability of the project. This rapeseed oil-driven block-type thermal power station was still on trial since December 1999. Now, in January 2000, the power station was put into regular operation. "With the successful transfer of this rapeseed oil-driven block- type thermal power station, the SolarWorld AG demonstrates its broad competence in constructing regenerative power stations", Dipl.-Ing. Frank H. Asbeck comments. The SolarWorld AG is also the biggest German constructor of complete solar power plants. The rapeseed oil-driven block-type thermal power station is in operation 24 hours per day and will serve as an emergency generator for the call-center of the Deutsche Bank 24 AG, Bonn. Within the business line of photovoltaic, the SolarWorld AG is constructing regenerative power plants and is trading with solar cells, modules and other components of solar power stations. The Asbeck Immobilien- und Kraftwerksgesellschaft mbH, in which the SolarWorld AG participates with 80 percent, realizes the planification and construction of wind power plants. In total, the SolarWorld AG intends to install within the coming years a total performance of wind power amounting up to 100 MW. The SolarWorld AG indicates, that the Stuttgarter stock exchange is trading with the SolarWorld-shares since mid-January. Listings of the SolarWorld-share exist furthermore at the stock exchange of Berlin, Düsseldorf and Francfort as well as in the Xetrahandel.
