Bonn (ots Ad hoc-Service) -         / further increase in capital planned for the 1st quarter 2000

Voluntary report analogous to section 15 German Securities Trading Act (WpHG) in accordance with the investor guidelines of the Düsseldorfer stock exchange

The SolarWorld AG, Bonn has successfully increased its sales in 1999 by plus 70 percent compared to the previous year. Based on a preliminary calculation, sales in 1999 are amounting to 10,7 Mio. DM compared to 6,3 Mio. DM in 1998. The realised sales in 1999 also exceed the planned sales for 1999 indicated in the listing prospectus by plus 30 percent. Despite the costs resulting of the listing at the stock exchange (IPO in 1999), the result for 1999 is positive. Dipl. Ing. Frank H. Asbeck, the spokesman of the SolarWorld-directory, forecasts a further important increase in sales and profit for the coming business year. "Our strategy towards an integrative company for renewable energies is clearly confirmed. In 2000, the production and installation of solar power components and complete solar power plants will experience the final break-through, resulting from the decision of the federal government, to introduce a remuneration for solar power amounting to 0,99 DM/kWh", the spokesman comments.

With the acquisition and resulting majority ownership of the Swedish producer of photovoltaic modules, Gällivare PhotoVoltaic (GPV), the SolarWorld AG will start the global trade with solar cells. "We are considering solar cells as a commodity. These semi- conductors are the raw material of every solar power station, and therefore the energy source of the future. Because of the high importance of solar cells for the future energy supply, they represent the square oil - without any danger for the coasts", Dipl. Ing. Frank H. Asbeck comments the potential of solar cells. Within the photovoltaic modules, which are a multiple of solar cells, solar energy is transformed into electricity. Photovoltaic modules, themselves, are the principal item of solar power stations. The SolarWorld AG is the most important constructor of solar power plants in Germany.

As planned, the SolarWorld AG will change the stock exchange segment from the Freiverkehr to the Geregelter Markt during the first quarter 2000. "By this step, we will attract new groups of investors, especially international funds, which are - for the moment - not investing in shares of the Freiverkehr", the spokesman of the directory clears up. Together with the change of the segment of the Düsseldorf stock exchange, the SolarWorld AG will raise its capital by 750.000 Euro to 3,75 Mio. Euro. Frank H. Asbeck still indicates, that the actual majority shareholders will not participate in the raise of capital. "This offer of new shares will be reserved to our free shareholders."

During the last two months of the previous year, the SolarWorld AG has executed participations with GPV, a Swedish producer of photovoltaic modules, as well as with Fuhrländer GmbH, Waigandshain/ Westerwald, a German producer of wind power plants. By these participations, the SolarWorld AG has extended and rounded off its company portfolio.

In addition to the business line of photovoltaic, in which the SolarWorld AG is trading with solar modules and components and is constructing complete solar power plants, the SolarWorld participate with 80 percent in the Asbeck Immobilien- und Kraftwerksgesellschaft mbH, which realises the planification and construction of wind power plants. In total, a capacity of wind power amounting to 100 MW will be installed within the next years. The business line of photovoltaic will also enclose the global trade with solar cells.
