    Supervisory Board approves appointment Dr. Ron Sommer: "Outstanding leader who is highly competent in his field"

    Bonn, November 30, 2000 - The Supervisory Board of T-Online yesterday appointed Thomas Holtrop to be the new Chairman of the T-Online International Board of Management. Holtrop, 45, will assume his new duties with effect from 1 January 2001.

    "With Thomas Holtrop, we have acquired an outstanding leader to head Europe's largest online provider," said Deutsche Telekom's CEO Dr. Ron Sommer. "Mr. Holtrop is highly competent in his field, a fact he has demonstrated in his former positions," he said.

    "I am looking forward to this challenge," Mr. Holtrop stressed. "T-Online is extremely well positioned in a growth market par excellence." Mr. Holtrop considers the consistent expansion of T-Online's content to make the company's offerings even more attractive one of his future tasks.

    After having held various positions, Mr. Holtrop joined American Express in 1989, where he was in London and Frankfurt before becoming Vice President, International Business Partners in New York from 1994 to 1995. In 1995, Mr. Holtrop joined Bank 24 in Bonn, first as an executive manager and than as a member of the Board of Management. After Bank 24 merged with the residential and business customer unit of Deutsche Bank to form Deutsche Bank 24 (Frankfurt), Mr. Holtrop was responsible for Marketing and Products on the Board of Management.
