Slight increase in turnover: Nemetschek suffers from the ongoing weak state of the construction market / High investment in the business of the future - the Internet subsidiary MYBAU.COM AG - and the valuation adjustment for the participation in S 3 AG depress profits

Munich, 23rd Oct. 2000. Nemetschek AG, one of the world's leading companies for IT technology and consulting in the design/build/manage sector, and the 4th largest German producer of standard software, is suffering from the ongoing weak state of the construction market. In the first nine months of this year, the total turnover of the group rose by 5% to 171 million DM, compared with 163 million DM in the same period of the previous year. Preliminary figures for the operating profits after 3 quarters are 7.5 million DM (previous year: 16.7 million DM), with a net loss of roughly 5 million DM. One us the major position in this loss is the valuation adjustment related to its investment in S 3 AG in which Nemetschek AG has had at 34% stake since 1999. In 1999 the Hamburg company S3 AG was one of the leading companies in Customer Relationship Management (CRM), with an annual turnover of 16 million DM. The board of Nemetschek values the burden on profits from this valuation adjustment at 4 million DM for the net profits of the first nine months - regardless of the claims of Nemetschek AG arising from the legal proceeding that have been initiated. According to the board, results were also depressed by the high investment in the future-oriented business of the Internet subsidiary MYBAU.COM AG. The new subsidiary, which will go online in the 4th quarter, should become the leading market center and business platform for the construction industry.

Nemetschek AG is also taking a cautious view of the development of turnover and profits for the complete fiscal year 2000. In view of the - to some extent dramatic - two- digit decline in the construction business, it must be assumed that turnover can only be moderately increased compared to the previous year's turnover of 245 million DM. At the moment, all efforts are concentrated on pushing the return on turnover back up to the level of the previous year, especially with regard to the 2001 business year.
