ETS Announces New TOEFL Test-Preparation Software
PRINCETON, N.J. (ots-PRNewswire) - Educational Testing Service is pleased to introduce the latest in its popular POWERPREP(R) software line, Preparation for the Computer-based TOEFL(R) Test, Version 1.0.
This CD-ROM is the only test-preparation product that contains two timed computer-based tests operating under the authentic TOEFL testing software used during the actual exam. The package includes real TOEFL questions, the same tutorials used on test day, and three essay topics for use in writing practice. After users take the practice tests, they can see score ranges to help them determine how well they might do on an actual TOEFL test.
"On test day, we want people to be familiar with the exam and comfortable with taking the TOEFL test on computer," explains Linda Scatton, acting director of the TOEFL program. "This valuable test preparation tool allows nonnative speakers of English to learn basic computer skills, practice their English language skills, and become familiar with TOEFL computer-based test directions, timing, and question types."
The software will be demonstrated and sold at the annual conference of Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), March 14-18 in Vancouver, British Columbia; the conference of the International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language (IATEFL), March 27-31 in Dublin; and the annual conference of NAFSA: Association of International Educators, May 28-June 2 in San Diego. There will be drawings for free copies of the software at the TOEFL exhibit at the three conferences.
People may purchase the POWERPREP software Preparation for the Computer-based TOEFL Test online at www.ets.org/store.html or by calling 1-800-446-3319 or 1-609-771-7243. A single copy costs $29.95. (Shipping and handling may be additional).
The software is also available from international educational advising centers and the local distributors listed on ETS' Web site at http://www.ets.org/cbt/outsidus.html. It operates on an IBM-compatible computer with Windows 95, 98, or NT 4.0. For site license information, call 1-609-683-2124.
The TOEFL program offers other study materials, including the TOEFL Test Preparation Kit, 2nd edition; TOEFL Practice Tests, Volumes 1 and 2; and a free TOEFL Sampler CD-ROM to familiarize students with the computer-based test.
ETS develops and administers more than 11 million tests worldwide on behalf of clients in education, government, and business.
