A.T. Kearney selects printCafe as preferred e-procurement partner for print Supply Market Solution
Procurement system for large company print buyers will leverage 2Source: A.T. Kearney, EDS E.solutions and i2's New Global Strategic Partnership

Chicago and Pittsburgh (ots-PRNewswire) - A.T. Kearney, the management consulting subsidiary of global services leader EDS (NYSE: EDS), today announced it has selected printCafe, Inc.'s print management software solution as the integrated e-commerce print procurement system for a new Supply Market Solution aimed at Fortune 500 print buyers.

The A.T. Kearney print Supply Market Solution, powered by printCafe(TM) technology, reduces cost, improves quality and shortens cycle times for buyers.  Suppliers benefit from reduced sales costs, a shorter selling cycle, increased client satisfaction and a standard e-commerce platform, which is upgraded regularly.

The print Supply Market Solution brings together a pre-screened network of high-quality print suppliers with Fortune 500 print buyers across key areas of print procurement including commercial printing, direct mail, stationery and business forms.  This aggregated purchasing power is then managed strategically by A.T. Kearney to create greater efficiencies, economies of scale and competitive advantage for buyers and suppliers.  In tests among five Fortune 500 companies, participants saved from 20 to 40 percent of their print spend.

"A.T. Kearney Supply Market Solutions will deliver value for both buyers and suppliers by creating more efficient supply chains with economic and service advantages, including higher quality and reduced cycle times," said Andy Eversbusch, A.T. Kearney vice president and leader of the Supply Market Solutions business.  "We plan to deliver these solutions across a range of indirect categories, starting with print, which is a sizeable expenditure for many of our clients."

The print Supply Market Solution is the first of a number of packaged procurement solutions planned by A.T. Kearney and CoNext, its net markets operations subsidiary.  The packages are focused on providing large companies with a cost-effective method for tracking common categories of indirect materials and services.  Companies will gain access to A.T. Kearney's Supply Market Solutions through 2Source, a new global strategic alliance involving A.T. Kearney, EDS E.solutions and i2 Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: ITWO). 2Source offers bundled solutions of strategic sourcing and procurement services, powered by i2 technology and content.  i2 customers will gain access to the print Supply Market Solution via the i2 TradeMatrix Network.

Print spending is one of the largest areas of indirect spending among Global 1000 companies.  Forrester Research estimates that Global 1000 companies purchase $110 billion of printed materials annually in the United States and $240 billion globally.

Under the terms of the agreement between printCafe and A.T. Kearney, companies buying through the print Supply Market Solution will use printCafe's print management software.  printCafe provides business management software solutions to both the buyer and supplier sides of the printing and publishing industries.  printCafe's management information systems allow printers to manage print projects from job creation through delivery and integrate them with e-commerce functionality via customer-branded web sites developed and hosted by printCafe for its customers.

"We selected printCafe based on a rigorous evaluation of e-procurement systems for the print industry," said Eversbusch.  "We were looking for an end-to-end job management solution that carried through from the buyer to the printer. With the printCafe solution, data can flow from our customers' e-procurement platform, such as Ariba, to suppliers and to a printer's back office systems."

"We're very glad to be working with A.T. Kearney," said Marc Olin, Co-CEO of printCafe.  "They understand that printing is a very complex, detail-driven process that doesn't conform to catalogue-based solutions.  Their clients are demanding a tailored e-procurement backend that is very specific to the print and publishing industry.  printCafe's e-commerce and ERP for print technology, combined with A.T. Kearney's Strategic Sourcing and category management capabilities, create a powerful solution for print buyers, printers and suppliers."
