Munich, November 25, 2021 – Filming has begun in Berlin on the new Warner TV Original Greenlight - German Genius. The eight-part comedy series is a self-deprecating journey through the ups and downs of the German television world. Alongside Kida Khodr Ramadan, who plays himself, the series brings together an extraordinary cast of German actors, musicians and comedians: Detlev Buck, Frederick Lau, Tom Schilling, Veysel Gelin, Olli Schulz, Heike Makatsch, Maria Furtwängler, Sascha Geršak, Katrin Bauerfeind, Britta Hammelstein, Christina Große, Trystan Pütter, Wim Wenders, Volker Schlöndorff, Leander Haußmann, Kurt Krömer, Thorsten Merten, Anne Ratte Polle, Kathrin Angerer, Marc Hosemann, Marvin Kren and many more. Greenlight - German Genius also features an appearance by British star comedian Ricky Gervais.
About Greenlight - German Genius
Actor Kida Ramadan is tired of playing the same roles over and over again and wants to create something of his own. A tweet from Ricky Gervais praising his portrayal of clan head Toni Hamady in 4 Blocks comes just at the right time. Kida takes advantage of the connection and convinces Ricky to give him the rights for a German adaptation of his series “Extras”. The only issue is, there are hardly any international stars in the country and Germans aren’t exactly known for their humor. On his way to creating the greatest series of all time and with every step he takes through the German television world, Kida's control is slowly but surely slipping away.

The eight 30-minute episodes are produced by Warner TV Comedy and W&B Television, previously responsible for 4 Blocks, Para - We Are King (Para – Wir sind King), Almost Fly and Add a Friend. Greenlight - German Genius is produced in cooperation with CAB Film, Macadamia & Mothermilk and in collaboration with BBC Studios Germany and Studio Babelsberg. Executive Producers are Quirin Berg, Max Wiedemann, Angélique Kommer, Detlev Buck, Cüneyt Kaya and Kida Ramadan. Executive producers for Warner TV Comedy are Hannes Heyelmann and Anke Greifeneder, who is also the editorial director. The scripts were written by Detlev Buck, Cüneyt Kaya, Constantin Lieb and Seraina Nyikos. Kaya and Buck are also directing.
