In partnership with Ambrogio Trasporti s.p.A., the Munich franchiser for high-quality logistics services in the field of waste disposal has just founded CCR Italy with its headquarters in Turin. With a 51 per cent holding CCR has a majority share in this joint venture. Ambrogio holds 49 per cent. With an annual turnover of approximately 36 million euros and a staff of roughly 100, Ambrogio is one of the leading providers of logistics services in Italy. In that country, it is the only completely private company in the so-called "intermodal transport market" (i.e. using various of forms of transport), serving the major trading routes of industry. "The creation of a joint venture undertaking with Ambrogio offers considerable advantages for both sides," states Achim Winter, chief executive officer of CCR AG. "Like CCR our Italian partner is an independent provider of high-value services in the logistics market with a clear international orientation. In addition, Ambrogio brings into the joint venture a wide range of outstanding contacts, especially among industrial concerns. That will facilitate a rapid transfer of the comprehensive CCR franchise concept to Italy. This year, we shall conclude the first logistics contracts. I therefore expect a further strong increase in turnover and improved results this year and especially next year." The aim of the venture is to establish a dense franchise network through CCR Italy and to gain new partners for CCR: The concept, the idea and the technical and business know-how will be provided by the headquarters in Munich, as was the case with the CCR subsidiaries in Spain and England. Local franchisees will assume sole responsibility for acquiring clients and taking care of their needs, and will provide all logistics services on an independent basis. For the current business year, Winter expects a further contracts of co-operation to be concluded with a logistics partner in another west European country. "With Spain, Britain and Italy, we already have three subsidiaries in strategically important European markets. We shall continue to extend out network in 2000. Our aim is to become the leading international company in the field of waste-disposal logistics." By opening up new fields of operations, such as the provision of logistics solutions in facility management, and by extending its international activities - CCR Hispania was founded in 1999, CCR UK at the beginning of 2000 - CCR seeks to achieve a growth in turnover and profits that will far exceed the average for this sector. Turnover should increase by roughly 120 per cent in the current business year to more than DM 50 million. After making a loss in 1999 as a result of exceptional expenditure incurred in going public, profits should exceed DM 3,5 million in 2000.
