Henkel's 2000 sales and profits reach new record highs/ Sales up by 12.5 per cent at EUR 12.8 billion/ EBIT up by 10.9 per cent at EUR 950 million/ Net earnings improved by 25 per cent to EUR 505 million
Düsseldorf, Germany (ots-PRNewswire) - The provisional financial
statements indicate that in 2000 Henkel again improved on its already
excellent performance of the previous year.
Group sales increased by 12.5 per cent to EUR 12.8 billion. In
Europe sales improved by 6.9 per cent to EUR 8.5 billion. Operations
in North America increased sales by 17.1 per cent to EUR 2.2 billion.
Sales in Latin America rose by 29.4 per cent to EUR 577 million. In
Asia sales increased by 36.9 per cent to EUR 1.3 billion.
Operating profit (EBIT) reached a new high of EUR 950 million,
10.9 per cent more than in 1999. The EBIT margin (EBIT/Sales) was 7.4
Net earnings, at EUR 505 million - a rise of 25 per cent - again
achieved a new record high.
The Adhesives business sector achieved a sales increase of 18.3
per cent to EUR 3.0 billion. Operating profit rose by 7.9 per cent to
EUR 256 million.
Sales of the Cosmetics/Toiletries business sector grew by 11.9 per
cent to EUR 2.0 billion, while operating profit improved by 8.8 per
cent to EUR 134 million.
The Detergents/Household Cleaners business sector increased sales
by 10.2 per cent to EUR 2.8 billion. Operating profit improved by 9.8
per cent to EUR 195 million.
The Industrial and Institutional Hygiene/Surface Technologies
business sector increased sales by 10.3 per cent to EUR 2.0 billion.
Operating profit went up by 18.4 per cent to EUR 175 million.
Chemical Products (Cognis) increased sales by 12.2 per cent to EUR
2.9 billion. Operating profit showed a 21.2 per cent rise to EUR 220
million. Henkel has meanwhile sent out the information memorandum to
potential partners for Cognis. The process of finding a partner is
progressing as planned and will take - as usual with such
transactions - several more months to accomplish.
Henkel will present its 2000 Financial Statements at a press and
analysts' conference on March 19, 2001, in Düsseldorf.
