Roedental, May 12, 2010 - The Zapf Creation Group today announced improved results in what traditionally is the weakest quarter for the toy industry. The Group´s consolidated revenue increased by 12.4% to EUR 11.9 million (2009: EUR 10.6 million).
Zapf Creation reports improved earnings and cash position: Gross profit rose by 16.6 percentage points to 46.3%. Adjusted for one-off items and restructuring costs, consolidated EBIT improved to EUR -1.4 million. The net loss for the period was EUR 2.4 million, compared to EUR 4.9 million in the prior-year period.
The cash flow from operating activities rose by 14.9% to EUR 7.8 million (2009: EUR 6.8 million). Net liabilities reduced to EUR 18.4 million (December 31, 2009: EUR 25.0 million).
As part of the Group's long-term financing, Zapf Creation´s Banking Consortium have agreed to waive compliance with key financial covenants until May 31, 2010.
