Parallel to the acquisition of 25.0 per cent voting and 0.1 per cent non-voting Bertelsmann shares by the new shareholder Groupe Bruxelles Lambert S.A. (GBL), the Bertelsmann Aktiengesellschaft Supervisory Board has been expanded from formerly 12 to 15 members.
On July 2, 2001, the Bertelsmann Aktiengesellschaft Annual General Meeting appointed Liz Mohn, member of the Bertelsmann Stiftung Executive Board and shareholder in the Bertelsmann Verwaltungsgesellschaft mbH (BVG), along with André Desmarais, President and Co-Chief Executive Officer of the Power Corporation of Canada, and Gilles Samyn, Managing Director of the CNP Compagnie Nationale à Portefeuille, to the Bertelsmann AG Supervisory Board. The Belgian Groupe Bruxelles Lambert S.A. is thus contributing two Supervisory Board members. In the person of Liz Mohn, yet another member of the Mohn Family has been appointed to a Supervisory Board capacity at Bertelsmann. Reinhard Mohn is the Chairman Emeritus of the Supervisory Board.
Thus, the Supervisory Board now comprises the following members:

Breuer, spokesman of the Group Board of Deutsche Bank AG, Frankfurt/Main; Dr. Hugo Bütler, Editor-in-Chief and Managing Director of Neue Zürcher Zeitung, Zurich; André Desmarais, President and Co-Chief Executive Officer of the Power Corporation of Canada, Montréal; Dr. Michael Hoffmann-Becking, Attorney at Law, Düsseldorf; Oswald Lexer, Chairman of the Works Council of Bertelsmann Services Group, Gütersloh; Liz Mohn, member of the Bertelsmann Stiftung Executive Board, Gütersloh and shareholder in the Bertelsmann Verwaltungsgesellschaft mbH (BVG); Willi Pfannkuche, Deputy Chairman of Bertelsmann Corporate Works Council, Gütersloh; Erich Ruppik, Chairman of Bertelsmann Corporate Works Council, Gütersloh;

Reinhard Mohn continues to be the Chairman Emeritus of the Supervisory Board.
