International Transmission Experts Gather in China for the First Time! September 10 to 12, 2012, Shanghai http://bit.ly/cti_china

Shanghai/Düsseldorf (ots)

1st International CTI Symposium and Exhibition "Innovative Automotive Transmissions and Hybrid & Electric Drives China"

The 1st International CTI Symposium and Exhibition China will take place in Shanghai from 10 to 12 September 2012. http://bit.ly/cti_china The event will be held by the Car Training Institute (CTI) , as a spin-off of the world´s largest annually held automotive transmission meeting in Berlin (Germany). International experts will discuss the latest developments and issues dealing with automotive transmissions and drives. "The 1st CTI Symposium China will offer the perfect opportunity for international transmission and power train experts to exchange experience and opinions. This update on global automotive engineering will not only support the local automotive industry but will also allow it to prove its ambitions to reach environmental protection goals, which are set by the Chinese government in the 12th Five-Year Plan," explains Dr. Ferit Küçükay, Director of the Institute of Automotive Engineering of Technical University Braunschweig in Germany.

High Potential in Growing Chinese Automotive Market The Chinese automotive market has been the largest in the world since 2009; the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is expecting over 200 million registered vehicles in the country by 2020. As a central part of the power train and a key factor for efficient drives, the transmission industry has a high potential in the growing Chinese automotive market. According to statistics presented by the China Gear Manufacturer Association (CGMA), the automotive transmission market has grown gradually and the demand is expected to account for more than 100 billion RMB in 2015.

Meanwhile, Chinese customers' expectations of technological quality are getting higher and higher. Stricter regulations for carbon dioxide emissions and energy conservation make it essential to develop and manufacture energy-saving transmissions and drive equipments with high efficiency. CTI decided to bring the International CTI Symposium to China in order to provide a platform for both Chinese and international companies and experts to exchange their knowledge and find appropriate business partners.

From the Organizer of the World´s Largest Automotive Transmission Meeting Place The CTI Symposium in Berlin (Germany) has been held for 10 years with around 1,000 attendees annually. It is the world's most visited annual conference on automotive transmissions and drives and became THE European gathering point for experts of this industry. In 2007, the forum was transferred to Michigan/USA and has established itself as the only international exchange platform about automotive transmissions and drives in North America.

"It has developed into one of the leading meeting points in the field of drive train technology and provides a broad platform for exchange of experiences and opinions between experts," said Bernd Eckl, COO, GETRAG Corporate Group. Participants from China were also satisfied with the CTI Symposium: "The CTI Symposium in Berlin provides a good platform for the Chinese auto industry to know the state-in-art technology in power train and drive line," said Prof. Xiangyang Xu, Deputy Dean of School of Transportation Science & Engineering and Director of SimulationX Training Center of Beihang University in China.

1st International Automotive Transmission Symposium in China CTI has invited nine high level experts of the Chinese automotive market to deliver key note speeches at the 1st international symposium of automotive transmission held in China. To include newcomers and those who want to refresh their knowledge, the first day will be an introductory day held by the Institute of Automotive Engineering (IAE) of Technical University Braunschweig in Germany, one of the most reknown institutes for automotive transmission engineering. In the following two days, there will be more than 50 technical presentations discussing latest technologies and strategies on automotive transmissions and HEV & EV drive for passenger cars and commercial vehicles held by most experienced representatives of automobile manufacturers, system and component suppliers and engineering consultants.

The symposium will focus on the following questions:
   - What improvements to customer-relevant vehicle
characteristics can be achieved using new or improved
concepts for drives, transmissions and components?
   - What are the challenges and opportunities of conventional
           and electrified drives?
   - What are the tools for efficient transmission and power
           train development?

In addition to the symposium days, the accompanying trade exhibition "Transmission Expo" will present 40 exhibitors. The organizer expects 300 international participants from the automotive industry and diverse industry sectors.
