Nordex AG has been awarded a contract by
independent power producer Renewable Energy Systems (RES) for two 25
MW wind farms in Northern Ireland. The contract provides for a total
of 20 N80/2500 kW turbines for delivery at the end of 2008. RES will
be building civil works itself.
The order is split equally, one project north of Belfast, the other
near Omagh, with a total electricity supply sufficient for 34,000
households annually and preventing CO2 emissions of around 110,000
tons per year.
"This latest contract from the UK proves once more that our turbines
are a particularly good solution in this harsh climate. In addition,
I am pleased that we have gained in RES a further potential
key-account customer for Nordex," says COO Sales and Marketing
Carsten Pedersen. RES operates wind farms all around the world and
has an ownership interest in approximately 300 MW of capacity. As a
project developer, it has installed more than 1500 MW in Europe and
the United States. A further 1300 MW, part of which is to be operated
by RES itself, is under construction.
