Fraport Publishes First Combined Business and Sustainability Report: "2014 Compact - Fraport. Finance. Sustainability."

Frankfurt (ots) - Both Financial and Sustainability Developments Are Presented Together in One Concise Report for the First Time

In tandem with the company's first quarter 2015 interim financial report, Fraport AG today issued a new combined financial and sustainability report titled: "2014 Compact - Fraport. Finance. Sustainability". The essential contents of the annual report - such as traffic and financial development, strategy, as well as the company's investments outside of Frankfurt - are concisely combined in one single publication, along with the most important aspects of sustainability in one single publication. Thus, the summary report and the company's recently published "Annual Report 2014" have been issued in a consistent layout and format - for example, with the title photos of both publications creating a single image (when placed side-by-side), which is included as a glossy poster inside the summary report. In its condensed format, the "2014 Compact - Fraport. Finance. Sustainability" publication presents the Fraport Group's financial developments along with sustainability goals, activities and progress - including Fraport's integrated sustainability program.

Dr. Stefan Schulte, Fraport AG's executive board chairman, explained: "We are offering this new format '2014 Compact - Fraport. Finance. Sustainability' in both PDF and printed versions [German], in contrast to the digital-only annual report. Complimentary to our "2014 Compact", we also provide information based on the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standard, which we publish as a separate publication on the Fraport website and which has again achieved the Level A+ rating. Combined, these reports describe the progress being made regarding the 10 Principles of the UN Global Compact, which we been committed to since 2007. I am convinced that these changes in our reporting format will be positively received by readers."

In terms of content, the new "Compact" format focuses on topics such as training and education, advancements in active and passive noise abatement, and energy management. The theme "Frankfurt Airport at Night" - which is the subtitle of Fraport's Annual Report 2014 - examines, among other topics, the effects of the nighttime curfew at Frankfurt Airport (FRA). Furthermore, beyond its FRA home base, Fraport is active at 14 airports on four continents worldwide. Sustainability initiatives at four selected international locations are discussed in a separate chapter.

The report also covers the area of diversity, a wide-ranging theme of great importance to Fraport AG. "The international nature of our business has always influenced our daily activities at Frankfurt Airport. We consider the diverse cultures, backgrounds, experiences and languages of our employees to be an opportunity for flexibly and creatively meeting the ever-changing challenges of the international market," stressed Schulte.

Fraport AG - which ranks among the world's leading companies in the global airport business - offers a full range of integrated airport management services and boasts subsidiaries and investments on five continents. In 2014, the Fraport Group generated sales of EUR2.4 billion and profit of about EUR252 million. Last year more than 108.5 million passengers used airports around the world in which Fraport has more than a 50 percent stake.

At its Frankfurt Airport (FRA) home base, Fraport welcomed about 60 million passengers and handled some 2.2 million metric tons of cargo (airfreight and airmail) in 2014. For the current winter timetable, FRA is served by 98 passenger airlines flying to some 250 destinations in 105 countries worldwide. More than half of FRA's destinations are intercontinental (beyond Europe) - underscoring Frankfurt's role as a leading hub in the global air transportation system. In Europe, Frankfurt Airport ranks first in terms of cargo tonnage and is the third-busiest for passenger traffic. With about 55 percent of all passengers using Frankfurt as a connecting hub, FRA also has the highest transfer rate among the major European hubs.

Frankfurt Airport City has become Germany's largest job complex at a single location, employing more than 78,000 people at some 500 companies and organizations on site. Major new real estate developments - such as The Squaire, the Gateway Gardens business park, and the Mönchhof Logistics Park - are creating an exciting new dimension and range of services at the evolving Frankfurt Airport City of the 21st century.

Almost half of Germany's population lives within a 200-kilometer radius of the FRA intermodal travel hub - the largest airport catchment area in Europe. FRA Airport City also serves as a magnet for other companies located throughout the economically vital Frankfurt/Rhine-Main-Neckar region. Thanks to synergies associated with the region's dynamic industries, networked expertise, and outstanding intermodal transportation infrastructure, FRA's world route network enables Hesse's and Germany's export-oriented businesses to flourish in global growth markets.

Frankfurt Airport meets the increasing needs of the export-oriented economies of the State of Hesse as well as Germany as a whole, for optimal connections to growth markets around the globe. Likewise, FRA is a strategic gateway for companies wanting to access the huge European marketplace. Thus, Frankfurt Airport - which is strategically located in the heart of Europe - is one of the most important hubs in the global logistics chain.
