    Analytik Jena AG acquires shares in marketing company in India and concludes partnership agreement in Korea.

    Analytik Jena AG acquired shares in the marketing company Analytik Jena India Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi. From now on, Analytik Jena holds 49 percent of the shares in the company. The two managers in India hold a share of 51 percent.

    India ranks among the most important regional markets in Asia because of the huge number of research institutions and pharmaceuticals companies existing there. Since its establishment in November 1999, the marketing branch in New Delhi has been operating on the Asian market under the name of Analytik Jena. Presently, the company has six employees. In the 1999/2000 business year, they achieved a sales volume of about DM 1.0 million. For the 2000/2001 business year, doubling of the sales volume to DM 2.0 million is planned. Moreover, Analytik Jena expects future annual growth rates of sales in the two-digit percent range.

    Analytik Jena AG concludes partnership agreement in Korea

    At the same time, with the Euro Science Co. Ltd. another important partner could be won for marketing in Asia. The company is one of the most important companies for marketing and sales of analytical systems in South Korea. Euro Science will market the complete product range of analytical and bioanalytical measuring systems of Analytik Jena AG under the brand name "Analytik Jena". In addition, the Korean company will round off its offerings with products of SPECTRO Analytical Instruments with which Analytik Jena recently concluded a strategic alliance. Euro Science Co. Ltd. employs a total of more than 50 persons, with 10 employees being presently responsible for marketing and sales of Analytik Jena products. First orders with a volume of DM 0.3 million have already been placed. For this business year, Analytik Jena expexts a sales volume of DM 1.2 million.

    Landmark in internationalization

    With about 25 percent of the global market for analytical systems, the Asian market is a major regional market for the products of Analytik Jena. "Now, with our partners in India and Korea we could considerably strengthen our marketing network in Asia," said Klaus Berka, CEO of Analytik Jena AG.

    "On the German market for analytical systems, Analytik Jena already ranks among the leading companies. Our target is a leading international position. Our going public in July 2000 provided the basis for the implementation of our strategy to extend the international marketing network," so Berka. "We are planning to increase the percentage of international sales in the total sales volume to 35 percent within the next two years, i.e. doubling it compared to today's sales."
