IVU enters European main-line service market

Neuer Markt-listed IVU Traffic Technologies AG (WKN 744 850) has been commissioned by the Schweizerische Bundesbahnen (SBB - Swiss Federal Railways) to develop and implement a new system for deploying over 6,500 conductors and engine drivers in passenger and freight transport. The IVU system will increase planning transparency and optimize the use of resources by ensuring better scheduling. With this contract IVU, the public transport specialist, has succeeded in entering the market of main-line service companies in which high levels of sales are generated.
The total volume commissioned by SBB amounts to CHF 2.9 million (around DM 3.7 million), of which DM 2 million will probably be recognized in sales as early as this fiscal year. The implementation of the IVU system for the whole of Switzerland is planned following the successful implementation of the first phase, which runs until August 2002.
The RAILCREW system will form the core of this project within the framework of the PIPER system (Planification Informatique PErsonnel Roulant). RAILCREW is based on IVU's MICROBUS product which has already been successfully launched on international public transport markets. As a unified standard IT system for planning, scheduling and financial control, RAILCREW will monitor and invoice the costs generated by all personnel deployed in SBB passenger and freight transport. IVU and SBB intend to market the RAILCREW system together for other European main-line services.
