Pursuant to section 25 (1) WpHG, Barclays plc, London, England, hereby notifies
that on 01 November 2011 following aggregation of voting rights that can be
acquired via financial instruments granting the right to subscribe to shares,
held directly or indirectly by us, and voting rights held pursuant to sections
21 and 22 WpHG we exceeded the threshold of 5 % of the voting rights in MVV
Energie AG, Luisenring 49, 68159 Mannheim and held 7.43 % of the voting rights
(4,894,285 voting rights).

Barclays plc holds financial instruments that grant the right to subscribe to
shares in MVV Energie AG amounting to 6.23 % of the voting rights (4,104,300
voting rights). 1.20 % of the voting rights (789,985 voting rights) are held
pursuant to sections 21 and 22 WpHG.
