As already announced in the EMI Electrola, Köln/ London press statement, January 26th 2000 saw the first full length concert to be broadcast, via ASDL, live, on the internet. The concert was held in the Messehalle, in Erfurt. One day before the show, 12 experts were flown in to prepare the high-tech webcast. With 3 hi-end cameras, a 100 Mbit server connection and a large video editing workstation in the hall, the data for the roughly 35.000 network concert viewers was recorded, edited and streamed onto the internet in 3 variants. In addition to live audio for all normal modems(28,8 Kbit), live video was provided in ISDN quality and, for the first time, ADSL, for optimum sound and maximum picture quality. About 330.000 fans clicked onto the web site, specially programmed in Flash http://www.nn24.de/nightlife, where good attendance was already registered during the afternoon, in the chat forum and in the guest book. During the concert the lines glowed: during the 3 hours of performance by the Pet Shop Boys the page was called up over 160.000 times. The live stream was accessed successfully over 35.000 times, only 1,03 % of users were unable to access the stream, due to the huge demand. Shortly before the concert, Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe gave an exclusive interview which can be called up under http://www.nn24.de/nightlife . They were also greatly taken with the impressive technical set-up and opened the concert by mentioning the world-wide internet broadcast of the show. NewsNet Media AG has demonstrated with this that they have mastered the technique of live internet broadcasts and are planning to co-operate in these divisions in the future, with globally operating media firms. The NewsNet Media AG directors, Roman Roell and Peter Valentino, have announced further such projects on the internet in the near future. NewsNet Media AG is planning to go public on the Neuer Markt, Frankfurt am Main.
